Although not considered common in horses, seizures are a concern that exists and for the horse owner that has to watch their horse suffer through them, “commonality” is not a care. Finding their horse relief is the only focus.
I’m certainly no seizure expert… and overall, seizures are a very complicated and complex problem that have various classifications and diverse definitions. To explore more on the diagnosis and classification click here to review an extensive published study.
What I want to share is suggestions for supporting health despite these concerns. Things that aren’t commonly shared, perspectives that remain hidden if you don’t know where to look… when you dig deeper you discover things like:
When any type of health problem or symptom presents itself, the best place to start in promoting health is at the cell level… and yet that is not what we are taught to do.
Within the human body, it’s estimated that there are 30 to 40 trillion cells… I would imagine your horse has at least that many. Since I haven’t found any studies that reveal the answer, we will stick with the human numbers for analogy’s sake…
Don’t you think with numbers like that and knowing that oxidative stress is happening within each of those 30 trillion cells, that reducing oxidative stress and promoting cellular function should be the primary focus to decreasing the risk of seizures?
“Antioxidant therapies aimed at reducing oxidative stress have received considerable attention in epilepsy treatment. However, much evidence suggests that oxidative stress does not always have the same pattern in all seizures models.”
If you review the study that this quote is from you will see that the antioxidant therapies were successful for some of the cases but not all.
But what if it was your horse… wouldn’t it be worth a try?
How to dramatically reduce oxidative stress-
One proven way to reduce oxidative stress is through Nrf2 activation. Nrf2 is a messenger protein contained in every cell that sends information to the cell’s DNA.
Further studies reveal that “The experimental evidence suggests that Nrf2 could be a promising therapeutic target for chronic neurological diseases like epilepsy… Recent findings have shown the therapeutic efficacy of natural and synthetic Nrf2 inducers in the treatment of epilepsy and other neurodegenerative diseases.”
What if you could support your horse (seizures or not) with one of the most effective, safe, and natural Nrf2 activation products. One that is not only clinically proven to extend life in male mice by 7% but also proven to reduce oxidative stress by an average of 40% in 30 days?
I’m excited to tell you that it’s possible. My horse and many of my clients’ horses are experiencing the health benefits of this amazing product as you read this post, right now. If you want to learn more click here.
Exploring Further Connections To Supporting Health in Times of Seizures-
Oxidative stress is only one factor explored in relation to seizures, further exploration reveals, the role of mitochondrial dysfunction arising from mitochondrial DNA mutation/depletion has been shown to be the cause of certain types of epilepsy.
Reaching back to the idea of activating the body as shared above, there is another protein within the cells of the body, that can be activated to support health… it is called Nrf1. Nrf1 regulates cellular growth and nuclear genes required for respiration. In plain English, Nrf1 is in charge of the protection and reproduction of the mitochondria (the motherboard and powerhouse of the cell).
The same company that offers the proven Nrf2 activation product, offers a natural and effective option to wake up the NRF1 protein to support the creation of new mitochondria.
Tips, Tools, and Resources to Empower
I don’t claim to prevent, treat, cure, or mitigate any diseases with anything I share with you on this website. What I share and teach has empowered horse owners around the world to transform their horses’ lives by focusing on improving health, not by focusing on disease…
Seizures are a serious concern, always seek medical care from licensed professionals in times of medical concerns.
In closing, I do want to share a few more tools and resources to empower you in supporting your horse. Here are a few simple acupressure points to utilize to support your horse’s health in times of possible seizure concerns.
These suggestions are not meant to substitute medical care. The points are also not meant to use during a seizure. They are points you can use to support health, in hopes of bringing comfort and aiding the body in healing and repairing.
- LI 6 acupoint will support in dispelling Wind which in Traditional Chinese Medicine is associated with seizes. Wind is the Master Yang Pathogen.
