Understanding the History of the Homeopathic Remedy-
Samuel Hahnemann was the founder of Homeopathy. He had a medical degree that he obtained in 1779, after enrollment in medical school in 1775. Being a man torn with what he witnessed and experienced in practice, he went on to utilize his education in chemistry and foreign language to make a living. It was through this work and translations that he came across the idea and principle of the Law of Similars. His work was then furthered by Constantine Hering who authored and contributed to what is known as Hering’s Rule of Cure:
“In all chronic and lingering cases the symptoms appearing last, and even though they may appear insignificant, are always important to regard to the selection of a drug; the oldest are the least important… Only such patients remain well and are really cured who have been rid of their symptoms in the reverse order of their development.” ~(information found in Homeopathic Care for Cats & Dogs by Don Hamilton, DVM)
Is a Homeopathic Remedy the Same as a Homeopathic Medicine?
The term homeopathic remedy is more appropriate as the true purpose and goal is to remedy the situation or cause of concern. Some refer to homeopathic remedies as medicines; they must then take into consideration the traditional view of medicine. Which has a primary and secondary effect and tends to simply mask or suppress a symptom. Differing outcomes to the situation at hand, therefore the term homeopathic remedy is the preferred terminology.
When considering homeopathy for horses and seeking out professionals to work with; finding one with an understanding both of the remedies themselves and the process to nature cure is important. Seeking their knowledge or education in the ideas of partial cure, palliation, suppression, non-curative aggravation, and natural disease cycles can be beneficial in any natural practitioner or modality professional in which you seek to work with.
