Time Management for Your Horsemanship
Many of us horse enthusiasts have to manage work, family, and friends with our horse time and activities. Time is truly the most value thing you have. How you spend your time determines the quality of your life! Here are 3 simple time management tips to help increase the time you have with your horses.
Set Horse Time to Your Priorities
The first tip is to acknowledge that you can’t accomplish everything all the time. There are times you will have to sacrifice horse time for other tasks and vice versa. I think many of us often fail to do the latter. We cancel horse time for many other endeavors but rarely say no to other things to have our horse time. Look at what you currently have going on in your life and set your priorities as you feel appropriate.
Are You Tracking & Planning Horse Time
What gets tracked gets done! Start to schedule your days. You have a work schedule you hold yourself to, so schedule in horse time. That being said don’t over-schedule your days, plan for the unexpected, and leave a little wiggle room when it is possible.
Don’t be a Perfectionist with Your Horse Time
Although having a plan of action for your upcoming horse session is effective and recommended, don’t be a perfectionist. If your time is short enjoy just grooming your horse and letting them graze. Work on small things, if your time is limited, and always try to end on a positive response or feeling.

To be successful in improving your horse’s health it is crucial to put your focus on what you want (health, exuberance, respect, rapport, etc) not on what you don’t want (disease, injury, illness, behavioral problems, etc). This may sound simple and common but in this day and age, it’s not. So much time and attention is put on the problems and concerns instead of the solutions. We want to help you establish a habit of balance and positive intention. Naturally, we start with your horse’s health… that’s why we’re inviting you to grab your copy of my book Healthy as a Horse and discover the forgotten framework of care that can transform your horse’s health.
